Although the origins of viticulture at Can Vendrell are in the middle ages, it was not until 1903 that the Albet family settled on the farm.
Joan Albet i Rovirosa came to Can Vendrell to oversee the replanting of the vineyard in posfiloxérica time, American rootstock grafted the desired variety. After replanting the vineyards he stayed on as manager of the 210 acres of the estate, of which 90 were dedicated to the cultivation of the vine. However, the current generation - Josep Maria and Antoni - which introduced organic viticulture. Josep Maria took over the farm from his father's death in 1972 and at the end of the seventies started producing his first organic wines. With the success of that first wine produced specifically for the Danish market, they gradually moved the entire estate over to organic farming. In 1986 the current company Albet i Noya SAT, driven by the brothers Josep Maria and Antoni Albet i Noya, and his mother, Núria i Noya Rafecas is constituted. The family also finally acquired the estate that they had been three generations. It is at this time when they began a long and continuous improvement of facilities, and devote 100% of the land to organic farming. Currently control 76 hectares under vine, and buy grapes from local farmers who have converted to organic farming.
