Pampero is made of 100% Venezuelan dark rum, a blend of several rums in white oak barrels for a minimum of years. Along with the Diplomatic rum, rum Cacique and C.A. Ron Santa Teresa, have helped Venezuela has become one of the 10 largest producers and exporters of rum in the world. The main markets for Pampero are Italy, Spain and Venezuela itself. Its main production plant is located in the "Hacienda La Guadalupe", family owned since the nineteenth century, now known as the "Licorero Center Complex" in Ocumare, in the state of Miranda, in the region of valleys Tuy river, near the fertile central plains. "Ron Pampero" is known in Venezuela as "Caballito Frenao" referring to its popular logo, Ranger on the back of a white Bronco Venezuelan Llanos, a scene comparable to the Argentine gaucho or pampas plains, hence your name, "Pampero". Pampero was created in 1938 by Alejandro Hernández, son of a fisherman from Isla de Margarita. Pampero is known for establishing standards rum production in Venezuela, and was the first rum in earning the epithet 'Aged' by the Venezuelan government. Alejandro Hernandez later devote to politics becoming governor of Nueva Esparta and was even presidential candidate. Despite the belief of its long tradition, Pampero Industry, CA is no longer a Venezuelan company. After having belonged to United Distillers for a few years, it became part of Diageo, the largest holding of alcoholic beverages in the world. The Pampero rums have achieved significant international awards, including the Gold Award Categories Premium for several years, and more recently, the award for best rum edition 007 San Francisco World Spirits Competition
