In 1950 began the story of Family Vineyards Courselle when Andre Courselle buys Thieuley castle and undertakes to create a winery.
In 1972, his son Francis Courselle, a young agricultural engineer and professor of viticulture, decided to accelerate the development of the vineyard. In 30 years, the cultivated area increased from 4 to 80 acres, currently on three areas: Thieuley Château, Château Clos Saint Anne and Saint Genesius. Sylvie and Marie Courselle Francis girls, inherited the family passion. Both engineers and oenologists, they gradually regain control over the destinies of Thieuley. Terroir The three main ridges of vineyards are at an average altitude of 80 m, exposed east and south. Any name finding its origin, "Thieuley" comes from the Old French word "tioule", where tiles were manufactured: Castle Thieuley is on clay rich soils, which is precious and essential to produce wines Bordeaux very qualitative. Based on our soil is clayey with a variable proportion of calcareous (clay and limestone) and serious (soil clay and gravel).
